Shepparton’s Margo Koskelainen is an official who rose to the highest level in the sport of softball.
She arrived in Shepparton as a senior softball player in 1968 and soon became involved in the sport in the local association.
She was appointed the media officer for softball, wrote articles for the paper and appeared on radio sports programs.
Koskelainen was passionate about her chosen sport and worked hard to ensure softball received the promotion it deserved.
She coached in the sport, and started umpiring.
Koskelainen went on to umpire softball at the Olympic Games, World Championships and other international events.
She was also the national director of softball umpiring.
