Badminton player

Gippsland’s loss was certainly Shepparton’s gain when a young badminton player from Drouin named Michael Scandolera came to live in Congupna when his parents purchased a dairy farm.

He had been playing Badminton since the age of five and by the time he was eight he had won his first Victorian title.

Scandolera represented Australia at junior and senior championships, won the Australian men’s singles and doubles titles, represented Australia in the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton, Canada, and led Australia to its first ever badminton gold medal in the mixed doubles at the Brisbane Commonwealth Games.
