Rifle shooter

Wood joined Katandra Rifle Club in 1975 and found that he enjoyed his new sport and began to shoot well.

It wasn’t long before Wood was being noticed, as he shot scores that showed he was on the way up.

He went on to star at the sport, winning a silver medal in the Commonwealth Games in Auckland in the pairs competition, with Benalla’s James Corbett.

Wood won the Victorian Queen’s Prize shoot and the Australian Champion of Champions.

He represented Victoria 16 times and was selected in the Australian team on nine occasions.

Wood had success shooting internationally at the Bisley Range in the United Kingdom.
